Why I created BladeFeed
From a childhood at the skatepark and returning to Creative Bladers to building BladeFeed. Founder Andy Durge tells his personal story.

What began as a small app grew into BladeFeed.
I wanted a place where I could quickly watch skate videos without other kinds of clips interrupting them. That small app has since grown into a platform, with the same goal: helping rollerblading grow.
At the skatepark from eight in the morning until eight at night
Rollerblading was my passion when I was young. I could spend the day at the skatepark from eight in the morning until eight at night, only going home for something to eat. When I explain why I created BladeFeed, that time is part of the story for me.
Picking up Creative Bladers again
The idea came when I picked up Creative Bladers again. My Instagram and Facebook were starting to do really well again. Around then I saw an advertisement about building an app. That is how I began a small mini-app, which soon grew into a real platform.
Simply being able to watch skate videos
What I personally missed was a platform where I could quickly watch skate videos without other kinds of clips in between. That was the need it began with. Asked why I started building it myself, my answer is simple: it happened naturally. The small app became more and more BladeFeed.
For beginners, experts and people who just want to watch
BladeFeed is for anyone interested in rollerblading: beginners, experienced skaters and people who simply enjoy watching the videos. You do not have to be an expert yourself to be interested in the sport. Watching and discovering belong here too.
Community support was not something I could take for granted
Community support was one of the hardest parts for me. Many people were sceptical. At the same time, I received lots of thank-you messages from people happy that something specifically for rollerblading now exists. Those are the responses I mention when someone asks why I do it. On 15 October 2026 I reported that BladeFeed had 1,300 users; that is my own figure from that moment.
From watching on a phone to getting outside again
I want rollerblading to grow. I would like to see people getting outside a little more again. Particularly with young people spending time on their phones, I hope an interest in skate videos can become an interest in skating themselves. That is my wish for the sport, not an outcome I can already demonstrate here.
My invitation: take a look and explore
Give it a look and try discovering a few things. The app is full of surprises. Whether you are starting out, have been skating for years or mainly want to watch videos, take your time to discover what appeals to you about BladeFeed.
